This week was definitely needed, although I feel like I’m even more behind on homework (because I probably am)! In any case, I got to travel back to my home state of Missouri (I used to call misery, but now I should emphasis the ‘miss’ of Missouri). I also didn’t go to the zoo, so this will not be all about the animals!
Downtown St. Charles
So there is this super old main street in St. Charles, Missouri that I have walked along hundreds of times. It gets more beautiful every time I go back!
The main street runs parallel to the Missouri River and a popular biking/hiking trail called the Katy Trail. It’s a hot tourist area because of the homage to Lewis and Clark (you see signs all around Missouri pointing out their trail across the state).

Hannibal, Missouri
If anyone knows anything about Mark Twain (aka Samuel Clemens), they know his hometown was Hannibal, Missouri.
The Mississippi River runs alongside the entire town of Hannibal and barges are constantly pushing things on the river. It’s really cool! There’s also a lighthouse that overlooks the river, but there are 244 steps to the top.

St. Louis, Missouri
Now everyone has heard of St. Louis. Whether it’s news on East St. Louis, the start of Route 66, or the Gateway Arch, you’ve heard of it. I’ve lived about an hour away for nearly 25 years of my life.
I used to want to leave the city because it just wasn’t for me, but now I really miss the city. It has a unique beauty to it that I’m excited to show you just some of that beauty. Here we go!
After all these years, I finally got to see the beauty of my home state in a new way. Looking through the lens of my camera, I saw it with a new eye and it caused me to really miss where I came from.
If you ever question where you live, take a look at it through something you love. See it in a new light. Before you know it, you won’t be there anymore.

When the Canon Fires 
That’s a huge lesson I learned from college my freshman year. I was so eager to get out of my hometown and move on to something new. Before I even knew it I missed my small hometown and recognized how beautiful where I live really is.

That is really cool that you got to go back and see your hometown in a new way! I moved to Johnson City when I was 5, but have always wondered how things would be different if I had stayed in a big city (Charlotte). I love all of your pictures as well!
